1926: Lordy Lordy Lordy Miss Maudie

With three successive Maudes Trophies under its belt Norton was determined to keep the ball rolling with a publicity stunt that would hog the limelight. Not only did the Bracebridge Street boys succeed in that goal (picking up a 4th Maudes Trophy in the process) they left a permanent record of it which is joy to read. So I’m going to sit back and leave you to revel in a glorious yarn. Gentle reader, you’re in for a treat.

The booklet was designed to publicise the ‘North-South-East-West’ stunt and Brooklands record-breaking laps. The Maudes Trophy clearly arrived between printing and distribution as the cherry on the cake.

Stop press: My Aussie mate Murray (who authored the excellent Murray’s Timelines you’ll find via the main menu), has converted this booklet into a flip-book, so you can simply click on https://ozebook.com/misc/maudes/flip/index.html and flick through as an enthusiast would have in 1926. Nice one, Murray.
